Its been long since I blogged or wrote something I realized or felt strongly about. This thought has been pestering me for a long time. "Life without Internet". Leave all the e-biz and economic stuff, what would have be like to be without emails, chats, orkut or facebook esp the "applications" speculating when I'll die, or who I'll marry or what my fortune would be :P. Better what our life was just 5-6 years ago and what its now.
I still remember writing those inland letters and postcards to mom dad sharing the hostel experience and events with them. It was truly amazing to get a letter from someone and read it whole day again and again. Well now that feeling and that experience is no where to be found. Now we have e-mails and chats which have replaced even the phone calls that we used to make to our friends. Reading the lines can never replace the voice of the other person. Want to share something, post it on Facebook. Want to know whereabouts of a guy, post a scrap on his orkut account. Things are changing and changing pretty fast. Some for good, some for better and some for worse.
I still believe that Internet has spoiled us for the worse. Be it school or college, our favourite time pass esp on a weekend was to ride your bicycle to the nearest friend / ground and play cricket, volleyball the whole day until your stomach cried for food. We would miss lectures, bunk labs even mid sems ;) for playing volleyball in the hostel courtyard. Whole hostel would turn up to watch India playing in the common room. The best part was the celebrations/analysis we used to have after the match. Now we spend our weekends playing Mafia Wars, doing farming and playing stupid applications on Facebook.
I am not saying that I am not a part of this. Even I have changed with time and tend to realize it lately, but would like to share the same experience again with my friends.
